OnePlus 3 and 3T See Android Nougat Update

Keeping with their self imposed end-of-2016 deadline, OnePlus has released the Android Nougat based OxygenOS 4.0 update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.  The update was released very late on December 31st, hitting the deadline and the update is now making its way out to all owners of the 3 and 3T.  While it still may take a few days for your phone to see it, it is out and it is only a matter of time.

The update is all focused on Android Nougat.  The release notes in the OnePlus forums essentially highlight all of the features of Nougat and speak very little of any other changes that the company has made in their custom version of Android.

OnePlus 3 Sees OxygenOS Update – But Not THAT Update (Yet)

OnePlus has begun rolling out OxygenOS 3.2.8 for the OnePlus 3 but before you get all excited, no, it’s not Nougat.  Not yet at least.  The update is a small one but does bring several improvements and fixes to the OP3, the company’s flagship device until a couple of weeks ago with then 3T was announced.  Still, OnePlus has remained committed to getting software updates out for both the 3 and the 3T and even though this update isn’t Nougat, that is expected before the end of the year.

So what’s in this update?  Quite a few nice changes and updates

OnePlus Releases Beta 6 of OxygenOS 3.5.5 for the OnePlus 3

OnePlus has released a 6th beta of their Android Nougat based OxygenOS release for the OnePlus 3.  The new build, version 3.5.5, brings a lot of changes as the company gets ready for a public release of the update in December.  If you already have the beta installed on your OnePlus 3, this update to the home-brew version of Android for the OP3 will come to you via an OTA update.  If you are not a part of the beta program, you can sign up and then do a manual flash of your device to this latest build.

As for what is addressed in this update, it is pretty extensive and for those in the beta program, its well worth the update.

Android Marshmallow Released for the OnePlus X

OnePlus has finally released its Android Marshmallow build for the OnePlus X.  The update comes in the form of OnePlus’ homebrew Android, OxygenOS, and you are looking for build 3.1.2 if you have the 5″ phone.  The update is rolling out now but it could take several days for everyone to get it.  The update includes, interestingly, the October security update (yes, we are still in September) along with Marshmallow 6.0.1.  Jump on it now X owners, this is likely the last major update for the phone.

OnePlus Rolling Out OxygenOS 3.2.6 to OnePlus 3 Devices

OnePlus has announced that a big update for OxygenOS is coming to the OnePlus 3 starting today.  The updated build is version 3.2.6 and will have a small roll out today with a broader roll out starting tomorrow.  The Android Marshmallow-based build has a significant number of performance and bug fixes in the update and if you have a OnePlus 3, you will most certainly want to get this installed on your device as soon as it comes to it.  You should get an OTA update over the course of the next few days and you can manually check for it by going to Settings>About Phone>System Update.

OxygenOS Updated for OnePlus 3

The OnePlus team has begun rolling out an OTA update to the OnePlus 3 that brings a sizable number of improvements to the device.  OxygenOS 3.2.2 is being rolled out to users in phases as the company continues to tweak and improve their homebrew version of Android Marshmallow for the flagship phone.  One of the big changes is the improvement of notification management in Doze, the battery saving feature of Marshmallow while your phone is unplugged and idle.  Another big improvement is the alert slide/silent mode issue where some users were accidentally turning on their phones while dropping it into their pockets.  This, appears at least, to have been fixed with this update.

OnePlus Rolls Out Marshmallow Based OxygenOS 3 for the OnePlus 2

After several months of beta testing, the OnePlus team has finally released their Android Marshmallow based OxygenOS 3.0.2 build.  Based on the forum post made by the OnePlus team, the OTA update is just now rolling out and it will be done incrementally so it could be up to 48 hours before your OP2 sees the update hit it.  Once it does, you will have a Marshmallow 6.0.2 base along with all the goodies that come with it and the ones that OnePlus has baked into OxygenOS.

OnePlus Releases OxygenOS Update for OnePlus 2

OnePlus this morning announced that the latest update to their OxygenOS platform for the OnePlus 2 has been released.  The update brings the Android based OS up to version 2.2.1 for those keeping score at home and will be pushed to devices via an OTA update.  For those who may not be familiar with it, OxygenOS is OnePlus’ homespun version of Android with several customized tweaks to suite their flagship device.  The company has been moving away from Cyanogen, which they originally released with the OnePlus One, as they want more control over the Android experience.
