Lumia 1020 on AT&T Finally Receives Lumia Denim Update

File this under the category of better late than never.  AT&T has finally released the Lumia Denim update for the popular Lumia 1020 today.  The update brings things like Cortana and other improvements into arguably one of the best smartphone/camera combinations on the market.  Be sure to check out my Field Guide to Lumia Denim for a run down of all of the updates that are in the release.  Frustratingly the Lumia 1020 has received the Lumia Denim update through many carriers globally, most notably O2 in England.  AT&T, who exclusively sold the phone here in the US, has been painfully slow in rolling out Denim as a whole and many questioned if the 1020 would actually get the update.  In a positive way, it has been answered.

AT&T Announces The Trek HD 4G Android Tablet

While they carry a wide range of Android tablets already, AT&T has decided to enter the fray properly with their own device.  The carrier announced yesterday that starting May 12th online and May 15th in stores, they will be offering the Trek HD 4G tablet in their stores.  The Lollipop based tablet will be available for $49.99 on a two year contract or $10 per month on the 20 month installment plan.  The non-contact price is $199.99 which for the specs is about where it should be price.  The move is a bit of a surprise but goal of the carrier is to provide a premium device without the premium price.

myAT&T For Windows Phone Gets A Minor Update to Fix Rollover Data Reporting

For those of you who are AT&T customers and use the myAT&T app for Windows Phone, there is a minor update available in the Windows Phone Store.  The update, version 4.4.1.0 for those keeping score at home, allows you to view your Rollover Data as you could when this particular update was first released a couple of weeks ago.  Some users however were having some issues with it not showing data correctly or the app freezing (I was one of them).  It appears that the issue has now been fixed in this re-release of the update.

Lumia 1520 No Longer Available At The Microsoft Store

The Lumia 1520 appears to be gone from the Microsoft Store online.  The last Windows Phone flagship device, which had been offered on AT&T, has been pulled from all pages on the site either under the AT&T section or the overall Windows Phone pages.  I discovered this doing some research for a post that I will be posting tomorrow and was surprised.  As of Friday afternoon the Lumia 1520 was still available directly from Microsoft on a contact from AT&T or without a contract for $549.99.  Now it appears the only flagship device remaining is the Lumia 830 which is $49 on contract or $399 off contract from AT&T.

myAT&T for Windows Phone Brings Rollover Data Balance View

AT&T has released an update to their myAT&T app for Windows Phone, adding the ability for you to see your Rollover Data balance from within the app.  Now if this sounds familiar, it should.  I posted back in early February that the previous version of the myAT&T app would allow you to see this balance too.  However it was unreliable and wasn’t officially supported.  Now it is and you can check your Rollover Data balance at any time. The update, version 4.4 for those keeping score at home, is available now and the only thing that changed is the ability to view the Rollover Data balance.

For those who aren’t familiar with the AT&T Rollover Data program, it is something all customers which allows you to carry over your unused data gigabytes to the next month.  You can read more about the program here.

Lumia 640XL Now Coming Soon on AT&T Website

AT&T has updated their smartphone section of their website to show that the all new Lumia 640XL is “coming soon” to the carrier.  While there is no date associated with the update on their page, it is generally believed that the Lumia 640XL and the Lumia 640 will both be available around mid-April with pre-orders possibly happening as soon as this week.  You might remember that AT&T will have the exclusive on the Lumia 640XL in the United States – at least for now – with T-Mobile and MetroPCS picking up the Lumia 640 along with AT&T.

AT&T Confirms – Will Carry The Lumia 640 and 640XL

With the announcements of the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640XL this morning at Mobile World Congress, one of the first questions that came up was when or if we would see these in the US market.  The answer came almost as quickly as the announcements themselves.  AT&T has issued a Press Release stating that they will carry the Lumia 640 and will be the first US carrier to have the Lumia 640XL in their lineup.  While pricing and release dates were not a part of the announcement, you can expect them to be here pretty soon given that Microsoft announced they are available this month.

Lumia Denim Finally Hits The AT&T Lumia 1520

It took 70 days but Lumia Denim is finally here for Lumia 1520 owners on AT&T.  The update, which is being pushed out to owners now from Microsoft, brings all of the benefits of the latest Windows Phone 8.1 firmware along with feature specific changes in the Lumia Denim package.

As a reminder, you can read my Guide to Lumia Denim and my Lumia Denim Rollout Guide for more detailed information on the release and the rollout process.
