Good news for those of you with the Huawei Honor 8. The Android Nougat update has been released for the phone and is rolling out to users via an OTA update. The update will bring all of the things you expect with Android Nougat but it also includes the EMUI 5.0 user experiences to the phone. This new version of Huawei’s Android experience has been well received on other devices and comes with their newly announced machine learning technology built into it.
The update for the Honor 8 is just over 2Gb in size so you will want to make sure that you are on Wi-Fi to download it. Once you have it, the install process will take about 20 minutes and a reboot is required.
The new EMUI 5.0 interface first made it’s debut on the Mate 9 from Huawei and was well received in overall usability over the 4.0 build. Huawei has also added some machine learning technology
to the new experience which will optimize frequently used apps. This should make things faster overall as you use your Honor 8.
As with all of these types of major updates, don’t be surprised if it takes a few days to get to you or even a week. Most manufactures roll these updates out in phases.
