As expected, the Android team has released the November set of Android Security Update patches to manufactures and Nexus devices. This month, as has become the norm, there are three patches available, one of which is a supplemental update to one of the primary updates. The first patch is dated November 1st and it contains many fixes around elevation of privileges, denial of service, and other security risks. In this patch, there are two critical updates and 11 high importance updates. This update, as has been in the past, will be for all devices running Android Nougat and Marshmallow.
The second patch, dated November 5th, is more aimed at Nexus devices in particular. These have to do with elevation of privileges with drivers on devices. There are 12 critical updates in this patch
Android Nougat
and an additional 12 high priority updates. This will be the patch level that Nexus devices will see and it is cumulative to the updates from the November 1st patch. Finally, there is a subsequent patch on November 6th that addresses Elevation of privilege vulnerability in kernel memory subsystem.

The factory images for the updates have been released already and the OTA images have also been released. Those of you who want to flash their devices manually can do so starting now. For those who want to wait, the OTA updates should be starting today too but it make take a few days or even a week or two before your Nexus devices see the update.
