Earlier this morning the official release of Android Nougat landed and now the Factory Images are available for those who want to manually update their Nexus devices. The images are available for all of the supported Nexus devices as well as the Pixel C and for those of you who don’t want to wait for the OTA update to hit your device, you can manually update your device to the latest version of Android.
You can read my full review of Nougat to get all the details on what it brings to your devices.
Manually flashing images to your phone is not recommended to those who aren’t comfortable diving into the the root and boot locker of your device. If that isn’t you, just wait for the OTA update
to come to your device. It should be there over the course of the next few days.
As a reminder, the devices that are eligible for the update include:
- Nexus 6
- Nexus 5X
- Nexus 6P
- Nexus 9
- Nexus Player
- Pixel C
Those of you who have the Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 (2013), sadly, it is the end of the road for major updates. Nougat will not be available on those devices – officially at least.
