OnePlus Releases OxygenOS Update for OnePlus 2

OnePlus this morning announced that the latest update to their OxygenOS platform for the OnePlus 2 has been released.  The update brings the Android based OS up to version 2.2.1 for those keeping score at home and will be pushed to devices via an OTA update.  For those who may not be familiar with it, OxygenOS is OnePlus’ homespun version of Android with several customized tweaks to suite their flagship device.  The company has been moving away from Cyanogen, which they originally released with the OnePlus One, as they want more control over the Android experience.

This update for the OnePlus 2 addresses several issues and also brings a much requested feature:  RAW support in the built-in OnePlus Camera app.  Most of the rest of the release is focused on addressing issues and making other performance improvements.  Here is a rundown of what specifically is addressed:

  • Ultra SIM compatibility improvement
  • GMS 3.0 upgrade
  • Improvement for roaming issues
  • Fix for occasional image corruption issue in OnePlus Camera

  • Romanian language support

As with many of these types of updates, this release of OxygenOS will be rolling out over the coming days to all users.  Everyone won’t see it today but OnePlus is committing to getting it out to all users as quickly as possible.  They likely want make sure there are not surprises before they open up the floodgates to everyone.
