Owner of the unlocked variety of the HTC One A9 should start seeing the January Android Marshmallow update hitting their devices starting today. The news comes from the companies Vice President of Product Management, Mo Versi, via Twitter earlier this morning.
HTC One (A9) unlocked owners! The Jan security updates and bug fixes is being updated via OTA this morning! Thanks.

The update comes about 3 weeks after the update was released from Google as HTC continues to push to be one of the fastest manufactures out with Android Marshmallow updates.
When HTC released the One A9, the company committed to having the monthly Marshmallow updates out within 15 days of the release from Google. This release today as 16 post release from Google. I don’t know about you but given how poorly other manufactures are doing on Marshmallow updates, I’ll give HTC a pass for being one day off.
The update is available only to those device that are unlocked. If your A9 is locked to a carrier then you will have to wait until that carrier releases the update for it which could be several more weeks.
The update itself will be pushed down to your device via an OTA update but you can always check for it manually by going to Settings>About Phone>System Updates.
