If you are a HTC One A9 owner on AT&T, it is a good day for you. HTC’s Mo Versi announced on Twitter last night that the December Android Marshmallow update is now starting to roll out to your device.
Happy Tuesday! AT&T HTC One (A9) Owners – The latest security updates including improvements to the camera will be OTA’d out by tonight.

When they released the One A9, HTC committed to having updates out for the device 15 days after they were released from Google. So far, they are sticking to their promise but what makes this interesting is that AT&T is involved. The commitment from HTC was that the updates would be released for unlocked devices, not those tied to carriers. With AT&T getting the update out just days after it was released from Google, it would seem that the carrier is working hard to get device updates out quicker, something they have sorely lacked in the past.
One A9 Part of HTC’s Resurgence
The release of the update on time to the A9 certainly bodes well for HTC and the device is a part of the resurgence of the company as of late. The company posted positive financial results in November after what has been nothing short
of a horrific end of 2014 and most of 2015. While all the credit cannot be pinned on just one device or the commitment that the company has made to updates, it won’t hurt them either – unless they start missing those update windows. At the time of the announcement it was seen as a big risk and while two months don’t make a trend, they have got the Marshmallow updates out quickly. Let’s hope it continues.
If you have a One A9 on AT&T, you should start seeing the OTA update at any point and you can always force the issue by going to Settings and checking for the update there.
