If you have been wanting to get on board with Project Fi, now you can do it without having to wait for an invite. For the next 24 hours, when you go to the Fi site, your invitation will be instantly approved so you will be able to sign up and start using Google’s virtual mobile operator platform. The news came via Twitter just a bit ago and it is all being done as part of the celebration by Google on the shipping of the Nexus 5X today.

To remind everyone, to use Fi you will need to have a Nexus 6, Nexus 6P or Nexus 5X to take full advantage of the program.
If you aren’t familiar with Fi, it is the virtual mobile operator platform by Google that leverages the T-Mobile and Sprint networks. It will switch between networks as needed and packages
start as low as $30 per month with unlimited, calls, texts and 1GB of data globally if you travel in over 120 countries. Better yet, each additional 1GB of data is only $10 per month and you only pay for what you use.
Until this point the Nexus 6 has been the only device that could take full advantage of Fi but now the 5X and 6P can as well. Others have reported that they can get the Project Fi SIM to work in non-Nexus devices but it will only work on the T-Mobile side of the house. Officially Google does not support any other devices.
