Google has announced they are rolling out an all new, all singing-and-dancing Wi-Fi router for the home. The new OnHub Wi-Fi router is designed for the home and using an array of 13 antenna, gives you the ultimate wireless experience without having to manually go configure things nor place it in strategic locations. The OnHub is designed to intelligently figure out what is the best connection for what you are doing and the surroundings.
On the blog post announcing the OnHub, Google outlines that the router is purely for Wi-Fi. You won’t find any ethernet connections on it as they want to keep the look clean and simple.
Many of us keep our router on the floor and out of sight, where it doesn’t work as well. We replaced unruly cords and blinking lights with internal antennas and subtle, useful lighting, so you’ll be happy placing OnHub out in the open, where your router performs its best.

Google points out that during the setup of the OnHub, the software looks for the best channels to give you the optimum experience and it even provides a QoS (Quality of Service) type function to give higher priority to streaming content over say email. This is to assure that you don’t get any freezes or jitter when you are streaming something from YouTube or Google Play Movies.
The device is controlled by a Google app on your Android phone that simplifies the information into more “human” terms. If you are a network geek and want to tweak the channels on your Wi-Fi router than this may not be the device for you.
