The Microsoft Outlook app for Android has received a minor update today, bringing performance and stability improvements to the app. The update, version 1.2.1 for those keeping score at home, is designed for both Android phones and tablets and requires your devices be running Android 4.0 or later. For those of you who are on the Windows 10 for Phone Technical Preview and have checked out the upcoming Outlook Mail app in the latest build, this view of Outlook should look strikingly familiar. Effectively they are the same in design and nearly on par from a functionality perspective. Microsoft clearly has been focused on brining all of their apps to both Android and iOS and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that all of the apps regardless of platform are starting to look the same.
Within the Microsoft Outlook app for Android you have your email as well as your Calendar and Contacts built into one app. This is convenient to an extent but on Android Phones, the app does not share your contacts with the Phone app so you will have to copy your contacts to your phone or to your Gmail account. This isn’t an issue of Microsoft Outlook itself but a limitation of Android.
