First, the good news. The entry level Nokia 3.1, as promised by Nokia when it was announced last month, is available in the United States. It sells for $159 and is available from Amazon. Now the bad news: It’s sold out.
Obviously the fact that the phone has sold out is great news for Nokia but for those who were wanting to get their hands on the budget friendly 5.2″ phone powered by Android One, you are going to have to wait a while.
For those that don’t recall, the Nokia 3.1 is a slightly smaller 5.2″ display and has a 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the MediaTek 6750 octa-core SoC and comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The storage can be expanded by 128GB thanks to the MicroSD slot. Finally, it will be powered by Android One which means you will always get updates in a timely fashion.
From a carrier perspective, the 3.1 works with AT&T and T-Mobile here in the US. If you are on Sprint or Verizon, unfortunately the phone is not compatible with CDMA networks.
Unfortunately for now, there is no indicator as to when the Nokia 3.1 will be back in stock. You can go ahead and purchase the phone – essentially a pre-order if you will – to assure you get one when they are back in stock. Your credit card won’t be charged however until the phone actually ships to you and you can cancel any time.
