When the new lineup of Nokia phones were announced this week at Mobile World Congress, one of the key questions was which one of the devices would make it to the United States. Initially, the answer was none of them. HMD Global, the parent company of Nokia, indicated that while the US market was on their roadmap, it wasn’t in the plans for this year.
That now has seemed to change slightly. CNet, who originally published an article stating no phones were coming to the US, has updated their post after clarifying it with Nokia. Now it appears that at least the revamped Nokia 6 will be coming to the country in May.
The original Nokia 6 was available in the United States from a wide range of retailers and was one of Amazon’s Prime phones. It makes sense to bring the updated version of the 6 to the US as it will be a solid mid-range phone that will be unlocked. It will support GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile and should be under $300 once it arrives.
As for the other Nokia phones, the new 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco, don’t expect those to be here, officially at least. That might change, especially if the new 6 does well but it is not in their plans at this time.
