Nokia has announced that the second generation of the Nokia 6 is now available for pre-orders in China. The mid-range phone has been rumored for several weeks with various leaks suggesting that an update to the phone would be coming in short order. Those rumors were confirmed today with the announcement and the device’s product & ordering page going live.
Being dubbed the Nokia 6 (2018), this updated device has a 5.5″ Full HD display with 2.5D curved glass with Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by the Snapdragon 630 SoC, clocked at 2.2GHz, and coupled with the Adreno 508 GPU. It has 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and will come with either 32GB or 64GB of storage. You can expand that with the MicroSD card slot (also the SIM 2 slot) on the phone.
Camera wise, the Nokia 6 (2018) has a 16MP rear facing camera with a dual-tone LED flash. It is coupled with an 8MP front facing selfie camera. Nokia has brought a feature to their cameras named Dual-Sight which allows you to use both cameras at the same time.
Powering all of this is a 3000mAh battery which includes fast charging technology. The phone will also ship with Android Nougat 7.1.1 but an Oreo update is already in the works across all the Nokia phones.
The phone will be available in a black with copper trim color as well as a white and silver variant. Cost wise, the 32GB model is ¥1499 (approximately $230) while the 64GB variant is ¥1699 ($262). There is no word on when or if this updated Nokia 6 will make it to the global markets. If you recall with the first generation, it was in China only for several months before hitting the world stage. We could well see a repeat.
