After making their debut earlier this year at Mobile World Congress, the redesigned Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact are now available to order from Sony’s Amazon storefront. The 5.7″ XZ2 is priced starting at $736 for the Ash Pink color while the XZ2 Compact is priced at $649 for any color variant of the 5″ phone.
For those that don’t remember, the Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 compact are virtually identical from an internals perspective. They are powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC, have 4GB of RAM and have 64GB of storage built-in. That storage can be expanded up to 400GB thanks to the MicroSD card slot. Both have a 19MP f/2.0 rear camera that can shoot an incredible 960 fps slow motion video, and a 5MP f/2.2 selfie camera on the front.
Display wise, the Xperia XZ2 has a 5.7″ Full HD+ display that renders 1080 x 2160 and is an 18:9 ratio. It is also HDR. The smaller XZ2 Compact has a 5.0″ Full HD+ display that renders at 1080 x 2160 as well. It too also supports HDR.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 has a 3180mAh battery while the XZ2 Compact has a smaller 2870mAh cell. Both phones support Quick Charge 3.0 while the XZ2 also supports Qi wireless charging. Both have Bluetooth 5.0, a fingerprint scanner (which finally works here in the United States) and both are IPS65/68 rated against water and dust intrusion.
Through their Amazon storefront, Sony is selling both models unlocked and they will work with GSM carriers here in the US like AT&T and T-Mobile. Oh, and these are the US models of the phone so they come with US warranties too.
