It has taken a bit longer than the company expected but if you have a Mobvoi Ticwatch E or S model, you should have your Wear OS update that brings Android Oreo available. The company, in a recent post in their forums, indicates that 100% of devices should have the update now available and installed (or ready to install).
Originally the company had indicated that the update would roll out in March of this year but “Due to unexpected circumstances” the updates were delayed. The company then began rolling out the update early last week with the 100% mark for all devices hit on May 16th.
I can confirm that my Mobvoi Ticwatch E has been updated.
Once you get the update, you will be rocking Wear OS by Google version 1.1 on either your E or S variant of the smartwatch. This build is based on Android Oreo 8.0 and it comes with the April 2018 Android Security Update patch too.
Along with the firmware updates, Mobvoi has indicated that there are some new features that are coming with the update:
1. Notification vibration strength setting
2. Touch lock option for wet conditions
3. Support for 7 new countries/languages
4. Notification Channels (Oreo feature)
5. Battery saving background limits (Oreo Feature)
Overall this is a solid update and one that Ticwatch E and S owners will appreciate.
If you have been looking for a solid Wear OS powered watch, both of these from Mobvoi are a great value. Right now on Amazon the Ticwatch E is $157 while the Ticwatch S is $199. I reviewed my E model late last year and what you are getting for the money, especially now with the Wear OS 1.1 update, makes it a great value.
