For the fourth time in as many weeks, there is a new build of the Chrome for Android beta app available in the Play Store. The new build number is 66.0.3359.82 for those keeping score at home and if you have the beta app installed, you likely already have the update waiting for you.
As a reminder, with the Chrome Beta app is a seperate app in the Play Store which you can download without having to join a formal beta program. You can use it along side your stable version of Chrome on your phone with no problem.
In reviewing the log for this release, most of the items have to do with bug fixes and other under-the-hood improvements. That is pretty typical for a beta release. There is one interesting find having to do with flagging on the Home page button.
[Home Page Button] Adds flags & metrics > Creates flags for home page button > Logs preference changes in new histogram > Sets home page default as NTP if home page was displayed by flag
What or how this will behave is a bit of a mystery but we aren’t too far from seeing this release hit the Stable channel at this point and will likely find out there.
Chrome 66 is expected to be released on or around April 17th.
