If you are aiming to get to Google I/O 2018, your first important date is February 22nd. That is when ticket sales begin at 10:00 AM Pacific which is more-or-less a ticket into the lottery to be selected.
The lottery system has been the method Google has used for the past several years as there are always far more developers interested in attending than there is space for them to attend. To attempt to make it fair, you sign up starting the 22nd and if you are selected, you complete your registration. That is, you pay for your ticket.
The cost of attending Google I/O 2018 isn’t known yet but last year, a ticket went for $1150. You can expect it to be around that same price if not a little higher this year.
In case you missed it yesterday, I/O 2018 will be held for the third consecutive year at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA. The venue is literally next door to Google’s main campus.
It is expected this year that we will get even further details on Google Assistant and AI in general along with a preview (if not earlier) of Android P, the next major version of Android which is expected this year.
For those that are interested in attending, be sure to head to the Google I/O site for information and to get going on the ticket sales starting the 22nd. Sales will continue through the 27th and in this first lottery style phase, it doesn’t matter if you sign up on the first day or the last.
