Google has refreshed the official Google I/O 2018 site with the developer event set to take place May 8-10 at the Shoreline Amphitheater. The location marks the third straight year that it the conference will be held at Shoreline, literally across the street from the Google main campus in Mountain View, California.
The Google I/O 2018 site update uses Street View to give you clues to unlock more detailed information about the event. Once you have unlocked all the locks, four in all, you will be at the Shoreline Amphitheater.
The developer conference will likely be heavily AI driving this year with Google making it clear that AI is their path to the future. You can expect to see lots of new development options for leveraging Google Assistant in apps and services for developers.
We will also likely see the official launch of the beta program for Android P. Google broke with tradition last year by launching Android Oreo’s beta just prior to I/O 2017 and we could see that again. The logic, at the time, was to give developers experience with the new API set in Oreo prior to I/O so they could would have more details questions or issues to discuss with Googlers.
As always, space is extremely limited at Google I/O so registration will be key to get you in the lottery for a spot. If you are selected, the price of admission will likely be around $1000 as has been the case the past few years.
