After accidentally leaking the news over the weekend, Google has officially announced that audiobooks have come to Google Play Books. The update requires that you have the latest version of the Play Books app for both Android and iOS, which is version 4.0 for those on Android. Once you have it, you will be able to listen to your books on your phone or tablet.
Even better, Google has fully integrated the experience with Google Assistant and Google Home, meaning you can tell Assistant to read a book to you and it will read it on your Home.
The new audiobooks are supported across all of your Google Play Books enabled devices and Assistant devices. That means you can start listening on one device and listen on another one later. It will pick up right where you left off regardless of the device you are using to listen at the time.
Right now, when you place your order for your first audiobook, you will get 50% off of that book so you can give it a try and see what you think.
Audiobooks have become an ever increasing way for people to consume books while on the go, at home or in the office.
