The release team at T-Mobile has been quite busy it would seem preparing updates for multiple Samsung Galaxy devices on their network. Late yesterday the carrier released multiple updates for Galaxy devices, bringing overall improvements as well as the December Android Security Update patch to them.
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are the first ones to get updated. The S7 will be receiving build G930TUVS4BQL2 while the S7 Edge will be getting build G935TUVS4BQL2. For both devices, the OTA updates are less than 50MB and is primarily the December security patch although there could be some undocumented improvements brought to the devices.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, new to T-Mobile this year, is getting build G892USQ1AQK5 which comes in at 230MB. It includes the December security patch as well as a few other updates:
- December 2017 security patches
- License Assisted Access (LAA) enabled for LTE Advanced
- Other improvements
This is the first update to the S8 Active since T-Mobile began carrying it and it brings it up to par with the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, which were updated earlier this week.
Finally, there is the Galaxy Note 8. It is getting build N950USQU2BQLA and it comes in at a hefty 315MB. This update includes the following:
- Video conferencing update
- DIGITS update
- December security update
- Various system improvements
While the carrier has released these updates, long time Android users will know that it could take several days or even a week before the update comes to your particular phone. You can always manually check for the update in Settings but patience is the key. It is recommended that these updates be downloaded via WiFi given their size (with the exception of the S7 update). Also remember that a reboot of your phone will be required during the installation process.
