Today’s Deal is on the fun and solid performing Nextbit Robin. Today, over at Amazon you can still pick up the Nextbit Robin for $129 in either Mint or Midnight colors. I reviewed the Robin a few months ago and at the time I said it was a pretty good deal at $299. At $129, it is one of the best deals on a phone with these specs out there right now. The phone has been down as low as $149 over the past few months so this is a further savings on a phone that is now running Android Nougat 7.1.
For those that don’t recall, the Nextbit Robin has some great features and offers a unique device-meets-cloud storage solution. It has 32GB of onboard storage merged with 100 GB online storage, so you always have the space you need. Robin seamlessly backs up your apps and photos, intelligently archives the stuff you’re not using, and easily restores items when you need them. The idea is that you never run out of space. Those less used apps are backed up into the cloud but then are instantly available when you want them. You’ll know an app has been backed up into the cloud as it will be grey on your Robin. You can read my review of the Robin to see all my thoughts on this great little phone. I also think it is perhaps one of the most underrated phones of 2016.
Although Nextbit has been purchased by Razer, the company has committed to getting updates out on this phone until February 2018. The proof point of that is that it has been updated to Nougat 7.1 in the past few weeks. Let’s be honest: There are not a lot of $129 that ever get an update let alone Nougat.
As for other key specs, the Robin has a 5.2″ IPS LCD display protected by Gorilla Glass 4 and renders full 1080p HD. It has a 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus, a 5MP front facing camera, dual front facing speakers with dual amplifiers for
some outstanding audio quality for a phone. The phone only works on GSM so if you are a Sprint, U.S. Cellular or Verizon customer, sorry, it won’t work for you. The bands supported include:
- HSPA (3G) 850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100
- LTE bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/20/28
- GSM 850/900/1800/1900
At this price, the Robin is a awfully hard deal to beat.
I have a Robin and it is a solid phone that I have no problem recommending. If you want to read my thoughts, you can find my review of it here.
