The new flagship from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S8, has been announced and the specifications of this new phone are certainly impressive. The 5.8″ Galaxy S8 will be powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor running four cores at 2.3GHz and the other four running at 1.9GHz. It is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which is expandable up to an additional 256GB thanks to the MicroSD card. The display renders at 2960 x 1440 QuadHD with an impressive 571 PPI. Powering all of it is a 3000mAh battery which is charged with inductive charging.
Camera wise, the rear shooter is a 12MP camera with OIS and has a f/1.7 aperture. On the front is an 8MP camera. The S8 is IPS68 rating meaning it is water and dust proof.
When it comes to the Galaxy S8 Plus, you will find a lot of the same specifications. The notable differences are the screen and battery size between the devices. On the s8 Plus, you have a whopping 6.2″ display that also renders QHD at 2960 x 1440. Because of the size, the PPI drops slightly, but to a still impressive, 529. The battery on the Plus also bumps up to 3500mAh over the 3000mAh pack in the S8. Otherwise, from the processor and RAM configuration to the cameras, the devices are the same.
Prices for the new S8 and S8 Plus are $750 and $850 respectively with availability starting April 21st.
