Keeping with their self imposed end-of-2016 deadline, OnePlus has released the Android Nougat based OxygenOS 4.0 update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The update was released very late on December 31st, hitting the deadline and the update is now making its way out to all owners of the 3 and 3T. While it still may take a few days for your phone to see it, it is out and it is only a matter of time.
The update is all focused on Android Nougat. The release notes in the OnePlus forums essentially highlight all of the features of Nougat and speak very little of any other changes that the company has made in their custom version of Android.
For those of you how have been running the Android Nougat preview from OnePlus on your OnePlus 3 or 3T, this update will completely wipe your device so make sure that you have made a back up
of your data (especially photos) as they will be deleted. There is no way around that and, to be fair, OnePlus has said all along that this would be the case.
Once the OxygenOS 4.0 OTA hits your 3 or 3T, it is just over 1GB in size for the download so you will certainly want to be on Wi-Fi to get it. Further, after the download, the update and install will take about 20 minutes so make sure you are on electrical power or have over 80% of battery life left. Once the reboot of the phone is done, you are running Nougat.

The last OnePlus flagship was so incredible that I can’t wait to get my hands of the OnePlus 4. I heard it was coming out in mid 2017 and I just hope OnePlus takes care if the issues with the last phone. I’m hoping OnePlus 4 will give one hell of an competition to other flagships in the industry.
