The new Huawei Honor 8 is now available online through the company’s store. The 5.2″ display device has some serious horsepower and will sell for $399. However, now through the month of September, you can use the coupon code H8PREREG to save $50. That brings it down to $349. So what are you getting for that price? A pretty impressive phone. The Honor 8 is powered by the Kirin 950 processor which has four Cortex A72 cores running at 2.3GHz and four Cortex A53 cores running at 1.85GHz. It has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage built-in but can be expanded an additional 128GB thanks to the MicroSD slot. The 5.2″ LTPS display renders at 1920 x 1080 which gives you ~423PPI.
Camera wise, the main camera is a dual camera configuration (one shooting monochrome and one shooting color) that is 12MP and f/2.2. The front facing 8MP camera is f/2.4 with a delayed selfie timer and panoramic mode as well. Both cameras are able to shoot full HD video.
The phone is unlocked and works on the following bands and frequencies:
- HSDPA 850 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100
- LTE band 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 12(700), 17(700)
Finally, the Honor 8 is powered by a 3000 mAh battery and has a fingerprint scanner for authentication.
All-in-all, a great package at a good price.
As you may remember, I posted last week about the Honor 8 being part of Huawei’s commitment to having regular updates available for the device. That means security updates as well as major software updates. The Honor 8 is shipping with Android Marshmallow but it is fully expected that it will have a Nougat update by the end of the year.
If you want to get your hands on the Honor 8 at the discounted price, head over to the Honor website and add the phone to your shopping cart. When you are ready to check out, just add the H8PREREG code in the appropriate field and the $50 will be automatically applied.
