Today, ZTE has announced their all new flagship Android phone, the Axon 7. This new 5.5″ display device has some serious specifications including a whooping 6GB of RAM on the upper end model and a 20MP rear camera. The company will be launching the phone in China today but it is expected to hit US shores in the coming months and will be available unlocked. It is expected that once it does get to the US, it will be in the sub-$500 price range. If that is indeed the case, it will be a great deal for what it has to offer.
The Axon 7 comes with a 5.5″ AMOLED display and is powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor running at 2.15GHz. It comes in either 64GB of storage or 128GB with the 64GB model having an
impressive 4GB of RAM while the 128GB unit will have 6GB of RAM. That processor and RAM combination at either level should make this phone blazing fast. Camera wise, the rear shooter is a 20MP f/1.8 camera with OIS while the front facing camera is no slouch at 8MP.
The Axon 7 has USB Type-C and supports the Quick Charge 3.0 standard on the 3250mAh battery. That means you can get up to about 50% of full capacity in 30 minutes. It also has a fingerprint scanner for security, NFC support and will be one of the first phones in the market to support Google’s new Daydream platform for VR. ZTE is also launching a VR headset along with the Axom 7.
From an OS perspective, the phone will be powered by Android Marshmallow 6.0.1.
Overall the Axom 7 looks to be a great phone and it will be interesting to see how it performs here in the US market. If the price point is indeed under $500 fully unlocked, it will be a contender for many.
