Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners on T-Mobile who have had an issue with the volume button on their devices, there is an update out for you that should resolve the problem from the carrier. The update is coming to both devices as an OTA and you are looking for build G930TUVU2APD7 if you have a S7 and build G935TUVU2APD7 if you have a S7 Edge. For those who haven’t run into the issues, you should still get this update on your device as soon as you can as it also contains security updates which will benefit all users.
For those who haven’t encountered this issue, users were running into a problem where if they pressed the power button or the volume down button, they would not respond. You would end up
with a device that seemingly would not power on or you could not reduce the volume of notifications. It seems that owners suffered from one or the other but in either case, it made things a bit difficult.
Interestingly, no other carrier has a fix for this nor have various forums out there suggested that this problem went beyond T-Mobile. It could be that the variant of the S7 and S7 Edge they use has the issue but no others.
As always, you can manually check to see if the update is available for your device by going to Settings>About Phone>Software Update and checking for the update. It is a small one, under 300MB, so it shouldn’t take long to download it and get it installed. Remember that a reboot will be required once you do install it.
