There are phones with good selfie front facing cameras and then there is the new Sony Xperia XA Ultra. The latest offering from Sony was announced today and the new Ultra comes with an impressive 16MP front facing camera for the perfect selfie shot. The new phone though doesn’t stop at just this one feature. It is packed and flagship quality features and specs including a MediaTek MT6755 eight-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. That storage can be expanded up to an additional 200GB thanks to the MicroSD slot built into it.
Camera wise, the front facing 16MP has a flash and has OIS so you can get crisp selfies all day. The rear camera is nothing to poo-poo either. It is a 21.5MP shooter with a quick launch
functionality built into the OS as well as hybrid autofocus. Powering it is a 2700mAh battery that Sony claims you can get two days from before charging. That’s an awfully tall order for a battery this size but Sony does have good battery management built into their devices so it may well be possible. If, however, you do need to charge, the Xperia XA Ultra does support rapid charging. From an OS perspective, the phone is Android Marshmallow.
Finally, the front of the XA Ultra is dominated by the 6″ display that is nearly edge-to-edge on the front of the phone. Given the quality of Sony displays, you can expect this one to be ultra sharp and easy to view for hours on end.
Sony hasn’t released a price for the XA Ultra yet but given its specs, you can expect it to be in the $600-700 price range at a minimum. It will come as either a single SIM or dual SIM depending on market.
