For those who are attending Google I/O 2016 in person or remotely, the official app for the developer event is now in the Google Play Store. The app gives you the ability to see all of the sessions that are available and setup your schedule of those that you want to attend. Even better, if you aren’t one of the lucky attendees in person, you can live stream the events remotely and can add those events to your Google calendar so you can tune in.
Oh, and a lot of those are going to be in VR. 🙂
Obviously those who are attending the event in person will get a bit more out of the app as it has maps built into it so you can get to the sessions you want to attend at the Shoreline Amphitheater.
For every event you can see who is presenting and if available, get linked up to them on Google+ or Twitter. The app also has videos around the different areas that are going to be covered at Google I/O as well as keynotes and videos from previous I/O events. All-in-all it is a pretty complete app.
There is one key feature for those of you who, like me, are going to be attending remotely. In the settings of the app you can have the events that you sign up for added to your calendar but even if you don’t want to do that, you can show the events on the scheduler in your local time zone. You have to give the app Location permissions for this to work but it is a super handy way, especially those who are on the East coast or in Europe, to know what time events start locally.
As you would expect, the app is free and even if you don’t plan on attending remotely or in person, it still a good app to check out as it gives you some clues as to where the company is going over the course of the next year.
Did I mention VR?
