During a press briefing yesterday, Samsung’s President of the company’s handheld division, Koh Dong-jin, reported that sales of the new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have been stronger than the company initially anticipated. While no specific figures were given nor were any sales targets, the public announcement is a good sign for the company who by all accounts had lackluster sales for the previous S6 lineup – by their standards.
The news is good and really not much of a surprise. Universally the reviews of these two new devices have been positive with many touting the battery life and waterproofing to be standout features. That’s not to mention the overall design of the devices which has also been praised.
It will be a few more months before we really know how well the devices are doing in the market as sales figures will be available and the devices will be in more markets like China.
Here in the US, the 32GB version of both the S7 and S7 Edge are available through a wide range of online and big box retailers while carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile have been offering promotions such as buy one and get a second for free on them.
