Last week the Chrome browser for Windows, Mac and Linux was update to Build 49 and as expect, the update is now hitting the browser for Android devices. The new build is 49.0.2623.91 for those keeping score at home and it is rolling out to the Google Play Store today. You should expect it to hit your device via an OTA update any time over the course of the next few days.
Because the same base code is used in the Android version of the browser, this update to Chrome brings all of the benefits and security fixes that the 49 train added to the desktop.
The number of fixes in this update is pretty impressive, with a total count of 26 security fixes being addressed.
Google, as is usually the case, is not disclosing all of the details around these issues until a sufficient number of users have upgraded to the latest build. Once that happens, details will be available on the Chromium site. Ultimately, for these security fixes, you will want to update the app on your phone and tablet as soon as they are available.
Again, it may be a day or two before you see it come to your device so be patient on it. Google has released it to the store at this point so it is just a matter of the OTA being available to you.
