Earlier in the week, along with the Nexus 5X price drop, Google dropped the price of the Nexus 6P in Gold by $50. That put the 32GB model at $449 while the 64GB model is at $499. Now you can get that same pricing over at Amazon too.
The price matching at Amazon is not something new and generally after a week or two of exclusivity at Google, they match the price so their customer base can get the same price. It’s a smart move from Amazon as their customers can use gift cards (or a combination of cards and credit cards) to pay for the device. The Google Store for now is credit card.

As with Google themselves, the pricing drop is only on the Gold model of the 6P. The other colors remain at their regular price. There has been a lot of speculation as to why Google and Huawei would drop the price of
only the Gold model but it likely comes to a combination of over production and under demand. It could also be that the Gold model only goes up to 64GB in storage. Whatever the combination of reasons for the price drop, we consumers are the ones that benefit from it.
There is no firm indication of when the pricing will return to normal but most are suggesting it will be shortly after Valentine’s Day, February 14th but that is not confirmed. The bottom line is if you want to pick one up, you probably should do it sooner rather than later.
