[Update – Upgrade Delayed] Verizon Begins Android Oreo Update Rollout for The Samsung Galaxy S7 Lineup

[Update:  Verizon has pulled the update twice now and it looks like it is on hold]

Good news this morning for Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners on Verizon, Android Oreo is on its way.  The carrier has released the update to Oreo on their network with it rolling out to owners over the course of the next several days.  The update for each device is around 1.2GB in size so you will want to make sure you download them via WiFi.

For the Samsung Galaxy S7, you are looking for software update NRD90M.G930VVRS4BRC3 while on the S7 Edge, NRD90M.G935VVRS4BRC3 is the Oreo update for you.

Latest Update to Google Keep Allows for Subtasks

The latest update to Google Keep is rolling out and with it comes a long needed and desired feature:  Indented lists.  By allowing for indention of lists, you can create subtasks and sublists in your main Keep notes, something that makes organization far easier if you are a heavy user of the app.

The new feature is very simple to use.  Simply create your list of items, with or without checkboxes, then drag the item to the right to create the indent.

Gmail for Android Now Supports Customizable Swipe Actions

A long desired feature, customizable swipe actions, are now finally in the latest version of Gmail for Android.  The latest build, which was released earlier this week, is version 8.5.20.  With that version, you can now set your left and right swipe actions for an email in your inbox.  It also works on any account you have setup in Gmail.

The new feature is found in Settings>General Settings>Swipe Actions.

Chrome OS Commit Points to Android Messages Integration

A new Chrome OS commit suggests that integration with Android Messages could be on its way to the platform.  The wording of the commit suggests that it will be a feature flag, at least in the beginning, but there are no details on how to enable the flag or when it will appear in a Chrome OS build.

Integration with Android Messages would allow for users to have their SMS/MMS messages on their Android phone running Messages to be sync’d with their Chromebook, thus allowing you to respond from your Chromebook without having to actually pick up your phone.  In theory, it works on the same principle as what you can do with Hangouts Classic before SMS support was removed (but it still works for Project Fi users) between your phone and your Chromebook.

Chrome 67 Lands in The Chrome OS Stable Channel

Just a day after a surprising sixth beta build of Chrome 67 was released for the Chrome OS Beta Channel, the latest version of the platform has now been promoted to the Chrome OS Stable Channel.  The build, 67.0.3396.78 (Platform version: 10575.54.0), is the exact same build that was the final beta yesterday.

The update brings a laundry list of improvements, features and fixes to the platform which I’ve listed after the break.  Some of these features, like Progressive Web App support, is a mirror of what is available on the desktop browsers for Windows and MacOS.
