Google Sheets Update Brings Much Improved Chart Support for Android

Google has released an update to Google Sheets for Android that brings some much needed improvements around charts in the spreadsheet app.  Right now you can insert a chart into a sheet on your Android phone or tablet with no problem but manipulating that chart is pretty limited.  For things like changing simple things like the legend location, you have to go to the file in your browser.  That, fortunately, is changing.

Inbox by Gmail Update Brings Streamlined Event Tracking and Link Saving Features

Google has begun rolling out a new update to Inbox, bringing with it several new features and some key enhancements to the email app.  Inbox by Google continues to develop rapidly as the go-to mail app for Android and these latest updates make it clear that this is the app for the future by the company.  The biggest feature change in this update is streamlined event tracking.  Now when an event has changed, you will see that update in your Inbox so you can view it at a glance.  Tapping on it will give you more details about the event and what has changed.

Pocket Casts Update Lays The Foundation For Android N Support

The update to Pocket Casts, the multi-platform podcasts app, is an interesting one for Android users.  While the update does bring a few new features, the developer of the app, Shifty Jelly, is pretty open about this update being more future focused than present focused.  The update is build 5.4 for those keeping score at home and is rolling out to the Google Play Store now.

Google Analytics for Android Gets A Material Design Makeover

Over the course of the past couple of years, we have gotten use to seeing apps with a Material Design look, especially those from Google themselves.  However some of the apps they produced have not been made over in Material Design and up until today, Google Analytics was one of them.  This morning the company started rolling out an update that brings a completely revamped look to the app to Android devices.

Google Maps add 360-Degree Photos to Locations

The latest update to Google Maps is rolling out and with it comes the addition of 360-degree photos when you look at a location.  The update you are looking for is version 9.23.1 for those keeping score at home and should be coming to you via an OTA update if you have the app installed.  The only major change in this update is the addition of 360-degree images.

Google Camera Update Essentially The Camera App in Android N

Google has released an update to the Google Camera app for Android devices that, effectively, is the camera app that will be in Android N.  It brings a wealth of new features including the ability to take stills while recording video. The update is build 3.2.042 for those keeping score at home and it has been released into the Google Play Store.  If you have the app installed, the OTA update should come to you in the next few days.

OneNote Update Lets You Try Without An Account

Microsoft has released an interesting update to OneNote, their note taking app and service for Android.  In this latest update, version 15.1.6821.4825 for those keeping score at home, you can now use the app without having to sign up for a Microsoft account.  The idea of course is to encourage people to try out the app without forcing them to sign up for a Microsoft account first.  Given that Microsoft is making a big push to move people from Evernote to OneNote, it somewhat makes sense.

NASA App Update Brings Google Cast Support

The official app from NASA has been update and with it comes support for Google Cast.  The update, version 1.66 for those keeping score, also brings a couple of important bug fixes along the way so if you have the app, you’ll want to get hold of this update when it comes to your device.  The banner feature though is Google Cast support.  Now you can cast photos and other media from within the NASA app to your Cast device so you can view them on your big screen.
