OnePlus To Launch The OnePlus 3 On June 15

The wait for the latest flagship from OnePlus is only 15 days away.  The company announced on the Weibo site that the OnePlus 3 will launch on June 15th at 10AM local time in an online VR experience.  OnePlus has made a name for itself with its “flagship killer” devices in the past, the OnePlus One and the OnePlus 2, and based on the rumors of what is expected to be in the 3, they will likely continue that killer stance.  Based on the TENAA report on the device, it should have a Snapdragon 820 SoC processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of Storage and a 5.5″ Full HD Display.

Further, the OP3 will have a 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camer, a 3000mAh battery and will be running Android Marshmallow 6.0.1.  I suspect that it will ship with OxygenOS, OnePlus’

homebrew of Android, based on Marshmallow and not AOSP or stock Android.  One interested tidbit in the TENAA report is that there is a 6GB of RAM variant listed.  It is not clear if this is indeed something OnePlus plans to release.

What is also interesting is that, based on the renders of the OnePlus 3 on the TENAA site, it does not appear to have a fingerprint scanner and there are no references to one in the specifications either.  It is possible that the larger-than-normal home button on the front of the phone acts as the fingerprint scanner.

Regardless, we will know what the OP3 brings to the table in just a little over two weeks.
