Angry Birds 2, the sequel to the hugely popular original Angry Birds, has received another update today, bringing with it all new levels and… water? That’s right, for the first time in the game you now have under water levels to contend with as you continue your pig popping efforts in the game. As the story line goes, Oh noes! Cobalt Plateaus has been totally flooded! We’re going subaquatic in a new Chapter brimming with water and amphibious pigs. CANNONBALL! So now when you get to the Cobalt Plateaus you not only have to deal with getting your aim right to destroy the evil pigs but you get to do it through water.
Water filled levels are not something that is new to the Angry Birds franchise. They first made their appearance in Angry Birds Seasons (still my favorite flavor of the original series) and the physics of flying your birds under the water is even more tricky than just the gravity of flying them through the air. It takes some real effort some times to get all the pigs and the three stars of each level. Patience is your friend!
Much like Seasons, Angry Birds 2 leverages that same physics model (albeit slightly improved) to make these new Cobalt Plateaus levels a real challenge. In addition to the new levels there have been improvements in several areas of the game. The arena area has been improved as have the Bonus Levels, some of which are new, and other general fixes. All-in-all, a worthwhile update even if you are just starting or well into the game already.
While there are in-app purchases in Angry Birds 2, these new levels are free. Rovio, the developer of the game, has been consistent about giving away new levels and bonus levels in the entire franchise so there is no cash to pony up to get them. If you have the game installed, the update will come to you via an OTA update. It is a sizable update of 92MB so you will want to get the update when you are Wi-Fi. If you haven’t tried it and want to give your birds a fling, you can use the link below to download from the Google Play Store.
