In the first 24 hours, Windows 10 has landed on over 14 million devices according to Microsoft. That would easily make Windows 10 one of the quickest adopted versions of Windows with reviews of the new flagship OS from Redmond being generally positive. I personally have installed it on both my primary PC and tablet (Toshiba Encore 2) and both have performed flawlessly. Indeed I would suggest the Tablet mode is a massively improved experience over Windows 8.1 for my Toshiba tablet.
Microsoft hosted launch events globally, mostly in their retail outlets here in the United States, and all indications are those were well attended.
In the Blogging Windows post, Microsoft also states that they have not yet fulfilled all of the reservations for Windows 10 that were made through the app on Windows 7 and 8.1 devices.

While we now have more than 14 million devices running Windows 10, we still have many more upgrades to go before we catch up to each of you that reserved your upgrade. The post goes on to state that for those with reservations, it could be a few days or weeks before you actually get it installed on your device. Microsoft is carefully rolling it out so they do not swamp their own services or the Internet backbone with Windows 10. Indeed, the release accounted for only 3-4% of Internet traffic on launch day, far less than the dire predictions. This is because Microsoft has thoughtfully and respectfully laid out a plan to get Windows 10 out without cause suffering for those who aren’t using the platform.
