This is a great piece of news for Windows Phone owners. The site WMPoweruser has posted a Twitter conversation with Windows Phone insider Nawzil that indicates that all current Windows Phone devices will run Windows 10. This is great news for a lot of different reasons but should put everyone’s mind at rest over buying a Windows Phone today knowing that Windows 10 is due out in 2015.
The news should be welcome not only for buyers of today but those who have used Windows Phone for a long time. In the past, Windows Mobile 6.5 to Windows Phone 7 upgrades were not possible and likewise from Windows Phone 7 to Windows Phone 8. This caused a lot of frustration for owners. This seemingly will not be the case between Windows Phone 8 and Windows 10.
Equally as important, it means that Windows 10 is going to be quite efficient in that it will run on devices both with 1GB and well as 512MB of RAM and slower processors. Given that Windows Phone predominant sector is the low-end budget devices, this will be good news for owners of Lumia 5xx and 6xx devices.
There is no official word on when we can expect Windows 10 other than 2015.
