After a trickle rollout last week, Google appears to be more broadly rolling out a new Purchases and Reservations section within Google Assistant on Android. This, like many changes with Assistant, is a cloud-side update so as long as you have the latest version of the Google app and/or Assistant app, you should be good-to-go.
The new sections are accessed by long pressing your Home button to activate Google Assistant. Now tap on the blue Explore button in the upper right corner. Finally, tap on the overflow menu (three vertical dots) and go to Settings. If it has rolled out to your account, you will see the new Purchases and Reservations sections.
Both of these new sections within Google Assistant are pretty self explanatory. Purchases lists any purchases you have made associated with your Google account or where you have received an email confirmation to your Gmail account of that purchase. For example, in my Purchases section, I see purchases from Amazon, the Google Store, eBay and others.
Equally, Reservations shows reservations made in a similar fashion with your Google account or Gmail account confirmations. Here you will see things like airline confirmation information, OpenTable reservations and so forth.
The idea behind these two new sections is to give you a single place, Google Assistant, to go and find those receipts or confirmation without having to dumpster dive into Gmail to try to find them. It isn’t an orbit changing addition, but it certainly is handy, especially if you do a lot of traveling.
