Owners of the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, today is a good day. Your Android Oreo update has been released and is on its way. The new came from HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, on Twitter.

Both devices began beta testing their respective Oreo builds back in December and clearly the feedback from testers and the rate of development from Nokia was quick to have the official build out within a month.
The updates are rolling out for the unlocked variants of the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 so if you have one tied to a carrier (outside of the US) then you will have to wait until that update is released by the carrier. Further, for those in the US, this update doesn’t apply to the Amazon Prime variant of the phone. The unlocked variant however will get the update.
The update for both phones will be around 1GB in size so you will want to make sure you are on WiFi to download it.
Nokia has been committed to getting Oreo out for all of their devices and hare making big strides in making that happen. The new Nokia 6(2018) has already received its Oreo update as has the Nokia 7. It is great news for those who have these devices and hopefully sets a trend for other manufactures to continue to offer updates on their older phones.
If you are wanting to pick up the budget friendly unlocked Nokia 6, it is available for $229 on Amazon.
