AT&T has announced that the ruggedized version of the Samsung Galaxy S7, the S7 Active, will be available start this Friday, June 10th. The phone is fundamentally a Galaxy S7 that has been hardened to withstand drops and spills and packs a whopping 4000 mAh battery to keep you going all day long. Keep in mind though that we aren’t talking about a S7 in a case. The screen on the Active has been hardened as well to prevent it from breaking. If you need a truly rugged phone, this is a great option for you.
Internally, the Active has pretty much the same guts and glory of the regular S7. It is powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor, has 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a fingerprint scanner (on the
front) and has a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Given that the Galaxy S7 has been so popular because of its performance and style, at least on the performance, you are going to get the same benefits with the Galaxy S7 Active.
Like the S6 Active and the S5 Active before it, here in the US, the phone is an exclusive to AT&T. The price will be around the same as the Galaxy S7 Edge to give you a marker. If you want to do the AT&T Next Plans, they are $26.50 per month on the standard plan while the Next Every Year (a new phone every 18 months) will be $33.13 per month.
