At MWC today, Alcatel made another device announcement this morning. Yesterday they announced the new IDOL 4 and IDOL 4S while today they announced the even more budget friendly POP series. In all, there are three devices in the POP series: The POP 4, POP 4+ and the POP 4S. The 4S is the premium version of the devices with a 13 MP rear camera and 5MP front while the 4 and 4+ have a 8 MP rear shooter. Likewise, you will find that the 4S has an octa-core processor while the 4 and 4+ have a quad-core.
While the company announced the new POP 4 series, there was little other details shared about the devices. I’ve posted the Press Release below so you can read it but you’ll see there is no real discussion around the types of processor used in the devices, the amount of storage and even the cost. It is clear that they are aiming the 4S at the mid-market given it’s beefed up camera,

processor and fingerprint reader but is it budget friendly or not? That’s not real clear. In fact, it isn’t 100% clear they will be running Android Marshmallow but the device renders have a default Marshmallow wallpaper so… maybe?
Equally as unclear is if these devices will make it to the United States. Alcatel has primarily focused in the EMEA market but they have had devices here before and plan to do so again with the IDOL 4 series.
