If you are a frequent traveler on American Airlines (Clinton raises his hand) then you will want to make sure you have the latest update to their app for Android. The new version 4.3 build is in the Google Play Store for those keeping score at home and it comes with a streamlined and much improved user experience along interactive terminal maps for many of the airports where you can find the airline. The update is free of course and to take full advantage of it you will need to have an American AAdvantage frequent flyer account but it is not necessary to use a good percentage of the app.

The biggest improvement in this update to the American Airlines app is the cleaner layout of the user interface. With a tap you can check your AAdvantage status, see your upcoming trips, book
flights, view terminal maps and Admirals Club locations. Previously you had to tap on the menu to get to some of this information but having it front-and-center makes the app faster to use and frankly, it is more intuitive.
Int his update you will also find interactive terminal maps for 10 major airports within the app. This will help you find shops, restaurants, or the nearest Admirals Club within these terminals. Obviously with only 10 airports, this won’t cover every airport that American flies into on a daily basis. It will only cover the major hubs like Dallas, Chicago O’Hare, JFK, LAX, LaGuardia, Miami and Phoenix for example. Check the full list within the app and you can be sure that more maps will be coming in later updates.
For those who are AAdvantage members, you can now request 500-mile upgrades on eligible segments from within the app as well as purchase 500-mile upgrades from the menu under my accounts. Further, upgrade lists are available on eligible regional carriers within 4 hours of departure now.
The new and improved American Airlines app is a free download and this new update is in the Google Play Store now.
