If you are the owner of an HTC One M8 or One M9, today is a good day for you too. HTC’s Jason Mackenzie has tweeted that both of these devices will be the first to receive the Android Marshmallow update and that will happen before the end of 2015.

This is great news and while it will lag behind the Google Nexus devices which will get Android Marshmallow next week, it is good to know that HTC is committed and putting a timeline for when users can expect the update.
Android Marshmallow By The End of 2015 Means?
The most obvious point in the post is what does “by the end of 2015” mean exactly? HTC generally tries to have updates out within 90 days of release from Google so a target of the end of the year
is certainly within that window. That could mean as early as October or November but I suspect that it will be late November at best or even December. It is just a matter of how far along the development cycle HTC is with Android Marshmallow today and how their internal testing goes of their builds.
As for the other HTC devices that will be seeing the Android Marshmallow update, no specific dates are given when clearly means a 2016 release. When in 2016 remains a mystery.
