While speculation has been rampant the last few weeks, it is now confirmed that Google is hosting an event in San Francisco on September 29th. The event has all the makings of a huge showing from the company with a wide range of products expected to be announced and of course the launch of Android Marshmallow.
Invites to the events tagline “Join us for some tasty treats and much s’more.” is a great play on the whole Marshmallow theme and pretty much guarantees that the next version of Android will be officially launched at the event. With the huge number of app updates from the Google stables happening these past few days, that’s hardly a surprise as all of them are prepping for Android Marshmallow.
Aside from Android Marshmallow, we should see two new Nexus devices announced at the event. The Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P, from LG and Huawei respectively, are expected to be announced. The Nexus 5X is expected to be a 5.2″ display device while the 6P will have a 5.7″ display. Both devices are also expected to have fingerprint scanners for authentication which will be handy for Android Pay as well.
The last few days have warmed up to a possible second generation Chromecast being announced at the event. This would have improved Wi-Fi as well as improved audio streaming with potential support for Sonus devices.
There will likely be other tidbits announced at the event and maybe even a surprise or two. The bottom line is to make sure you stay tuned on the 29th for all the breaking news and updates.
