6Tag for Windows Phone has received another update today, the third in as many weeks, with several fixes and leveraging the new Instagram API. The update, version 4.0.5.0 for those keeping score at home, builds on the mega update to version 4.0 a few weeks ago. This update is a mix of technical updates to improve the app, a bug fix and some new features when it comes to Direct posts on Instagram.

From a bug fix perspective, this update to the app fixes an issue with screen rotation that some users were experiencing. Secondly, this updates the Instagram API that is used by
the application to get and post your messages on the service. The bigger changes from an end user perspective are around Directs. Now in the app you have progressive loading of Directs and you have an indicator to let you know when you have received a comment on a Direct Message. This should give users who leverage Directs a much better experience.
6Tag for Windows Phone is a free app but it is Ad Supported. You can go ad-free for an in-app purchase of .99 Cents which will help support the app and Windows Phone developer extraordinaire, Rudy Huyn.
As I’ve said many times, 6Tag is the Instagram app for Windows Phone. It is far superior to the official Instagram app which is still in beta and hasn’t been touched in nearly a year.
