Microsoft this morning announced the all new, ultra budget friendly Lumia 435 this morning. The newest Lumia will be available in Europe, APAC and IMEA in February and will retail for around $80 which makes it the most affordable current Lumia device on the market. The announcement comes just days before the big Microsoft event in Redmond next Tuesday where several anouncements around Windows 10 and Windows Mobile are expected.
Specification wise, the Lumia 435 is certainly aimed at the budget end of the market. It comes with a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. It is expandable up to 128GB of storage with a MicroSD. Camera wise is has a 2MP main camera with a VGA front facing camera. Finally, it comes with a 4″ WVGA screen with 800×480
resolution.
There will also be a dual-SIM version of the Lumia 435 available.
Interestingly, the Lumia 435 comes with Lumia Denim and the new Lumia Camera app which is expected to be released for other Lumia devices any day, potentially next Tuesday.
At this point Microsoft has stated that the Lumia 435 is aimed at overseas markets and there is no indicator that it will be coming to the United States. That could change of course but with the already affordable Lumia 635 in this market and the Lumia 520 still readily available for $29, it makes sense that it isn’t coming to North America. At least not yet.
Microsoft as part of the announcement has released the following video for the Lumia 435 to give you an overview of it.
