The team over at WPCentral are covering the CTIA event in Las Vegas in the United States this week. Yesterday Microsoft’s Stephen Elop stated that the recently announced Lumia 830 will be in the United States on AT&T by this holiday season. This is great news and certainly news that will make Windows Phone fans in the US happy. The Lumia 830 has all the makings of being successful and getting into a market as big as the US – where Windows Phone ironically is struggling the most – could very much dictate the success of the phone.
In a statement from AT&T, they write:
The Nokia Lumia 830 will offer AT&T customers an eye-catching blend of metal and polycarbonate that looks
gorgeous and feels great in your hand. Built for life on the move, the smartphone takes amazing pictures with the 10 MP PureView camera and allows you to enjoy your favorite Windows experiences, including Xbox, Skype, Office and Bing, while on-the-go. Sync your digital life with AT&T Locker, while sharing life moments on your favorite social media networks
In the Press Release there was no indicator of pricing or when exactly when the 830 will be available.
The carrying of the Lumia 830 will be the second significant Windows Phone announcement from the carrier with an announcement last month that the new HTC One M8 Windows Phone will also be available later this year. Currently that device is exclusive to CDMA carrier Verizon in the United States. It is good to see carriers in that market picking up the platform and hopefully it leads to success for the Little OS That Could.
